How to use the Add Line Numbers

  1. Type or paste your text into the box.
  2. Choose the starting number and format.
  3. Copy the result or download it as a text file.

What does this tool do?

Turn plain lists into numbered lists, number lines of code or poetry for reference, or prepare text for scripts and transcripts.

Numbered lines make it easy to refer to a specific line in feedback (“see line 14”), to follow along in scripts and transcripts, or to turn a plain list into a numbered one before pasting it somewhere that doesn't format lists.

Why use it?

  • Quick numbered lists without a word processor.
  • Reference specific lines in reviews.
  • Zero-padding keeps numbers aligned.

Example

“Milk / Eggs / Bread” on separate lines becomes “1. Milk / 2. Eggs / 3. Bread”.
