How to use the Meta Tag Generator

  1. Enter the page title and description.
  2. Add the canonical URL and a share image.
  3. Copy the generated tags into your page's <head>.

What does this tool do?

The title tag and meta description are what searchers see first. Open Graph and X (Twitter) tags control how your link looks when it's shared on social networks and in messaging apps. The canonical tag tells search engines which URL is the main version of a page.

Values are escaped properly, so quotes and ampersands in your text won't break the HTML.

Why use it?

  • Complete, correct tags in one step.
  • Live search result preview.
  • Social sharing tags included.

Good title and description

Title: “Free Word Counter — Count Words & Characters Online” (about 50 characters). Description: a single clear sentence about what the page offers and why it's useful, around 140–160 characters.

Accuracy and limits

  • Google may rewrite titles and descriptions if it thinks another text matches a search better. Clear, accurate tags make that less likely.

Privacy

Everything you type is processed in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to our servers or stored by us. There's no account to create and nothing to install.

Frequently asked questions

Do meta keywords help SEO?

No. Google has ignored the meta keywords tag for over a decade, so this generator doesn't include it.

How long should a meta description be?

Around 140–160 characters usually displays in full on desktop. More important is that it accurately summarises the page.
