How to use the Duplicate File Finder
- Drop many files at once, or choose a whole folder.
- Wait while each file's content is fingerprinted.
- Review the groups of identical files and delete extra copies in your file manager.
What does this tool do?
Two files are duplicates when their bytes are identical. The finder compares SHA-256 fingerprints, so “IMG_1234.jpg” and “IMG_1234 (1).jpg” are matched while similar-but-edited files are not. Files with unique sizes are skipped automatically, which keeps large folders fast.
Files are read on your device and never uploaded. The tool lists duplicates but never deletes anything itself.
Why use it?
- Matches by content, not name.
- Shows space you could free.
- Works on whole folders.
Privacy
Your files are processed entirely in your browser using built-in web technologies. They are not uploaded to our servers, and closing the page clears them from memory. There's no account to create and nothing to install.
