How to use the Text Compare (Diff Checker)
- Paste the original text on the left.
- Paste the changed text on the right.
- Choose to compare by words or lines.
- Read the highlighted additions and deletions.
What does this tool do?
The checker uses Myers' diff algorithm — the same approach used by Git — to find the smallest set of changes between the two texts. Additions are shown in green and deletions in red.
Word mode is best for prose and contracts. Line mode suits code, lists and config files and shows line numbers for both versions.
Why use it?
- Spot edits in contracts and documents.
- Review changes to code or config.
- Compare two versions of an essay or article.
Example
Comparing “The quick brown fox jumps” with “The quick red fox jumped” highlights “brown” → “red” and “jumps” → “jumped”.
Accuracy and limits
- Very different texts (thousands of separate changes) may be too large to compare by words; line mode handles them better.
