How to use the File Metadata Viewer & Remover
- Drop a photo, PDF or Office document.
- Review the metadata found — location, authors, software and dates.
- Download a clean copy with that metadata removed.
What does this tool do?
Files often carry more than you think: photos record where they were taken and on which phone, PDFs and Word documents store author names, company names and editing history. Removing it protects your privacy when you share files publicly.
Photos are re-saved without EXIF data, PDFs have their document properties cleared, and Office files have their author, company and date fields blanked. Files are read on your device and never uploaded.
Why use it?
- Photos, PDFs and Office files.
- Shows GPS location if present.
- One-click clean copy.
Accuracy and limits
- Content inside a document — tracked changes, comments or names in the text — isn't changed. Review those in the original app.
Privacy
Your files are processed entirely in your browser using built-in web technologies. They are not uploaded to our servers, and closing the page clears them from memory. There's no account to create and nothing to install.
