How to use the Grayscale & Photo Filters
- Choose an image.
- Pick grayscale, sepia or invert, and adjust the sliders.
- Download the edited photo.
What does this tool do?
Grayscale uses perceptual brightness weights (green counts more than blue, as our eyes do), so the black-and-white version keeps natural-looking contrast.
Why use it?
- Classic black-and-white photos.
- Brighten dark pictures.
- Make scanned documents easier to read with more contrast.
Tip for documents
For a photographed document, try grayscale plus +20 brightness and +30 contrast — the paper turns whiter and the text darker.
Privacy
Your files are processed entirely in your browser using built-in web technologies. They are not uploaded to our servers, and closing the page clears them from memory. There's no account to create and nothing to install.
Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images never leave your device, which is why it works even on a slow connection.
