How to use the Literature Review Matrix

  1. Add a row for each source you read.
  2. Fill in the columns — rename, add or remove them to suit your project.
  3. Export to Excel (CSV) or Markdown when you're ready to write.

What does this tool do?

A literature (synthesis) matrix lines up your sources against the same questions — aim, method, sample, findings, limitations — so patterns, agreements and gaps become obvious. It turns a pile of summaries into an argument.

Your matrix saves automatically in this browser as you type. Export it regularly to keep a copy elsewhere.

Why use it?

  • Fully editable columns.
  • Autosaves locally.
  • CSV and Markdown export.
