How to use the Reference List Generator
- Add each source with the form (or from any of our citation generators).
- Pick the citation style — the whole list re-formats instantly.
- Copy the list into Word or Google Docs with formatting, or download it.
What does this tool do?
A reference list collects every source you cite, formatted consistently. This generator stores your sources once and formats them in APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard or IEEE, so you can switch styles without retyping anything.
Lists are sorted alphabetically by first author, except IEEE, which numbers sources in the order you add them. Hanging indents are included when you copy with formatting.
Why use it?
- Switch styles instantly.
- Edit or delete any entry.
- Exports to HTML and BibTeX.
Accuracy and limits
- Always check against your instructor's or publisher's guidelines — local variations of each style are common, and titles keep the capitalisation you type.
Privacy
The calculation happens instantly in your browser. The numbers you enter are not sent to our servers or saved. There's no account to create and nothing to install.
