What does this tool do?

BibTeX is the reference format used with LaTeX. Each entry has a type (@book, @article, @incollection or @misc), a citation key you use with \cite{}, and fields such as author, title, journal and year.

The generator builds a key from the first author, year and first title word, wraps the title to preserve capitalisation and escapes special characters like & and %.
