How to use the IEEE Citation Generator
- Choose the source type — book, journal article, web page, newspaper or chapter.
- Fill in the authors, title and publication details.
- Copy the reference (with italics) and the in-text citation, or add it to your reference list.
What does this tool do?
IEEE style is used in engineering, computer science and IT. Sources are numbered in the order you first cite them, authors are written with initials first, and article titles go in quotation marks with the journal in italics.
In-text citations follow the IEEE pattern: a bracketed number like [1] that matches the reference list order. Saved sources stay in your browser only; nothing is uploaded.
Why use it?
- Books, articles, web pages, newspapers and chapters.
- Copies with italics for Word and Google Docs.
- Builds a full reference list across tools.
Example
M. P. Walker and R. Stickgold, “Sleep, memory, and plasticity,” Annual Review of Psychology, vol. 57, pp. 139–166, 2006.
Accuracy and limits
- Always check against your instructor's or publisher's guidelines — local variations of each style are common, and titles keep the capitalisation you type.
