How to use the Distance Between Coordinates

  1. Enter the latitude and longitude of point A.
  2. Enter point B (decimal degrees or degrees/minutes/seconds).
  3. Read the distance and initial bearing.

What does this tool do?

The shortest path between two points on the globe is a great circle. The calculator uses Vincenty's formulae on the WGS84 ellipsoid — accurate to within millimetres — and also shows the simpler haversine estimate on a sphere.

New York to London, for example, is about 5,585 km as the crow flies.

Why use it?

  • Ellipsoid accuracy.
  • km, miles and nautical miles.
  • Accepts DMS input.
