How to use the EV Charging Cost Calculator
- Enter your battery size and charge levels.
- Enter the electricity price and charger power.
- Read the cost, time and range added — and the petrol comparison.
What does this tool do?
Charging cost is the energy added divided by charging efficiency, times the price per kWh. About 10% is typically lost as heat when charging, more on slow chargers in cold weather.
Charging time is energy divided by charger power, but fast chargers slow down above roughly 80%, so real times for the last 20% are longer.
Why use it?
- Cost, time and range.
- Includes charging losses.
- Petrol comparison.
