JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF… Files stay on your device.

Your files are processed entirely in your browser using built-in web technologies. They are not uploaded to our servers, and closing the page clears them from memory.

How to use the Image Dimensions & DPI Checker

  1. Drop one or more images.
  2. Read the dimensions, aspect ratio, DPI and file size for each.
  3. Check the print sizes to see if a photo is sharp enough to print.

What does this tool do?

DPI (dots per inch) is only a label stored in the file: the number of pixels decides how sharp a print can be. For a crisp photo print you want about 300 pixels per inch, so a 3000 × 2000 px image prints well at 10 × 6.7 inches.

DPI is read from the PNG pHYs chunk or the JPEG JFIF/EXIF header. Many web images have none, in which case apps assume 72 or 96. Your images are processed on your own device and never uploaded.

Why use it?

  • Bulk checking.
  • Reads stored DPI.
  • Print size at 300 DPI.
