How to use the Pressure Calculator
- Choose force-and-area or fluid pressure.
- Pick what to solve for.
- Enter the values and read the pressure in several units.
What does this tool do?
Pressure is force spread over an area: the same force on a smaller area gives more pressure, which is why knives are sharp and snowshoes are wide.
In a fluid, pressure grows with depth: P = ρgh. Every 10 m of fresh water adds about 98 kPa — roughly one atmosphere.
Why use it?
- Two common pressure formulas.
- Results in Pa, kPa, psi and atm.
- Solve for any variable.
The formula
P = F ÷ A
P = ρ × g × h
Accuracy and limits
- Fluid pressure is gauge pressure — add atmospheric pressure (101.325 kPa) for absolute pressure.
- Values are in SI units (shown next to each field). Convert other units first, or use our unit converters.
