Acceleration
3.475 m/s²
Distance covered (s = ut + ½at²)
111.2 m
Acceleration in g
0.3544 g
How it was calculated
  1. a = (v − u) ÷ t
  2. a = (27.8 − 0) ÷ 8 = 3.475 m/s²

How to use the Acceleration Calculator

  1. Choose what to solve for.
  2. Enter the other values in m/s, seconds and m/s².
  3. Read the result, the distance covered and acceleration in g.

What does this tool do?

Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity. A car going from 0 to 100 km/h (27.8 m/s) in 8 seconds accelerates at about 3.5 m/s², or 0.35 g.

The calculator assumes constant acceleration and also gives the distance covered during that time using s = ut + ½at².

Why use it?

  • Solve for any of the four variables.
  • Distance covered included.
  • Acceleration in g for context.

The formula

a = (v − u) ÷ t
v = u + at
s = ut + ½at²

Accuracy and limits

  • Values are in SI units (shown next to each field). Convert other units first, or use our unit converters.
