How to use the Stoichiometry Calculator
- Type the chemical equation — it doesn't need to be balanced.
- Enter the substance you know and its amount in grams or moles.
- Read the table of moles and masses.
What does this tool do?
Stoichiometry uses the mole ratios from a balanced equation to relate amounts of different substances. In N₂ + 3H₂ → 2NH₃, every mole of nitrogen makes two moles of ammonia.
The calculator converts your known amount to moles, applies the ratios, and converts back to grams using each substance's molar mass — giving the theoretical yield.
Why use it?
- Balances the equation first.
- Grams or moles in, both out.
- Every species in one table.
Accuracy and limits
- Assumes the substance you enter is the limiting reagent and that the reaction goes to completion.
